About This Recipe

For one of the best lunch box meals ever, try making my wonderful BLT Wrap Sandwiches. These delicious sammies can be made ahead of time and placed in an insulated lunchbox along with ice packs or a frozen juice box or two. It’s a wonderful recipe for a lunch box, or it’s also great for a quick meal at home.

I love wrap sandwiches because the wrap doesn’t get soggy the way a plain sandwich bun can. You can use flour or corn tortillas for the wrap; it’s your choice.

I prefer the type of bacon that is precooked and shelf stable. It just takes a minute or two of heating in the microwave to make the bacon super crisp and perfect. You can, of course, fry bacon in the traditional manner for this recipe. There are also microwave bacon products that are raw that cook easily in that appliance.

This sandwich is a bit different from other wrap recipes because it uses cream cheese in the filling. Not only does this make the wraps tangy and delicious, the cream cheese is also less likely to soak into the tortilla, so the sandwiches will be fresh and wonderful no matter how long they sit in the fridge or the insulated lunch box.

You can, of course, use meats other than bacon. Try cooked shrimp or chopped chicken or some leftover chopped steak. Or leave the steak out and add more veggies for a vegetarian version.

Keep all of the ingredients for this sandwich on hand and you can make it in a few minutes. Your kids will request it – guaranteed!

How to Make the Best BLT Wrap Sandwich

  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened. I don’t like to leave dairy products out of refrigeration long, so I unwrap the cream cheese, put it on a plate, and microwave for 1 minute on 50% power. Repeat as necessary until the cheese is soft but not melted.
  • Make sure the bacon is really crisp. It should crumble easily in your fingers when it’s done.
  • You can add other veggies if you’d like. Some chopped summer squash or frozen cooked peas would be delicious.

Why This Recipe Works

  • The combination of salty crisp bacon, tangy cream cheese, crisp lettuce, and juicy tomato is wonderful. The ranch dressing adds more flavor.
