About This Recipe

This very simple main dish recipe for Tortellini with Peas is so easy to make and so satisfying. It takes just five ingredients and about 20 minutes to make. Frozen tortellini is one of my favorite shortcut ingredients and I always have some in the freezer. Same with frozen peas. My favorite brand of frozen tortellini is Rosetto. I use it in many recipes, including Tortellini Carbonara.

This recipe doesn’t have a lot of sauce, but it doesn’t need it. Good high quality ingredients are always delicious even if the recipe isn’t fancy.

Keep the ingredients for this on hand so you can make it any time that you just don’t feel like cooking. This is much easier than ordering take out and better for you than fast food. In fact, making a list of your favorite recipes and then keeping the ingredients for them in your pantry, fridge, and freezer is one of the best ways to save money and eat better. Plus, it taste better!

Tips for the best Tortellini with Peas:

  • Since this recipe is so simple there aren’t a lot of ways to mess it up. Mainly, don’t overcook the tortellini. The pasta is fully cooked and prepared; it’s just frozen, so you are just heating it up. It should only take two to three minutes to thaw to perfection in the boiling water.
  • Once you add the tortellini and peas to the butter mixture in the skillet, it should only take a few minutes to heat up. Don’t overcook it.

Why this recipe works:

  • The cream and butter combine to form a sauce on the tortellini and peas. The sauce isn’t very thick or substantial but just right for this recipe.
  • Make sure you have all of the ingredients ready to go because the recipe is so fast to make.
  • You can use grated or shredded Parmesan cheese in this recipe, or a combination of both.
